Public Space Permit (DDOT Requirement) - Definition

Public Space Permit is authorization from the District Department of Transportation (DDOT) to use a specified public space for a given business activity. All applicants for a Basic Business License for the Valet Parking category must obtain a public space permit from the District Department of Transportation (DDOT) after license issuance, hire a licensed valet company, and obey all relevant traffic regulations. Once DDOT issues a permit, signs will be posted to list the days and hours that the curbside space is reserved as a valet staging area. For more information, including assistance with completing the application process for a public space permit, contact the DDOT Policy Branch, (202) 442-4670, 1100 4th Street, SW, 3rd Floor, Washington, DC 20024.
